Overview
We use surge analysis and simulation to provide a range of services aligned to each stage in the life of the project. Our objective is to help our client deliver maximum performance throughout the life of an asset.
Conceptual Design
Knowledge about risks and problems early in the design stage is priceless.
Conceptual Studies: Deliver maximum savings and risk management to allow design options to be compared. Extensive use of our databases and experience minimises study costs.
Bid Assistance : Simplified assessment of surge pressures, surge suppression and pipe design pressure enables costing estimates to be made. Provides competitive advantage to any bid.
Detailed Design
Surge and simulation studies undertaken at design stage deliver an improved design process, reduced CAPEX and efficient operations.
Surge Analysis : Surge pressures are a major cause of leaks, damage and downtime and so studies have become a standard requirement of most design guides and standards. Surge analysis manages these risks, provides due diligence and yet the studies often have an immediate payback with equipment optimisation and an improved design process. Our work is proven, accurate and is peer reviewed by engineers with over 20 years specialist experience.
Simulation Studies : Steady operation is rarely the critical design case for most systems. Dynamic operations such as start-up or shutdown cause more onerous operations and can only be studied by simulation. Simulation studies are used to optimise equipment and minimise downtime. Studies optimise tank volumes, specify control valves, set-up variable speed drives and specify operating procedures. Simulation is the only effective way of designing control systems, tuning controllers and setting ramp times. This minimises downtime and reduces commissioning costs.
Air Management Air collection causes significant problems including amplification of surge pressures, operational problems and reduced capacity. We undertake Air Management reviews to ensure that these risks are minimised and air valve selection is optimised.Build
Simulation models used during design stage can be used to aide construction and commissioning. This benefits the contractor and asset operator.
As Built Reviews: Changes that occur during the construction phase can have serious impacts. Our as built review assess this risk and validate the as built system..
Controller Tuning: Tuning controllers on site is difficult and very time consuming. The use of a simulation model allows for cost effective and nonintrusive controller tuning over a wider range of operating conditions. This significantly reduces the time required for commissioning.
Commissioning Support: Commissioning tests can be prepared using the simulation model. Comparison to operating conditions during commissioning then allows excellent acceptance tests and provides a permanent benchmark of hydraulic performance.
Operate
Services designed for engineers and managers to maintain performance and improve system efficiency and effectiveness.
Data Collection : We use rapid sampling data loggers, with remote access capabilities, to study operations. Existing SCADA data can also be utilised to help determine operational performance and review previous incidents.
Performance Analysis: We use data collection and sophisticated analysis to:
This service identifies areas of underperformance, and determines potential improvements to system efficiency.
