Bid Stage Analysis

Surge and simulation studies were traditionally undertaken during detailed design stage. But this did not allow any accurate costing of surge suppression equipment. This was a real source of commercial risk. But the increased competitive nature of the industry means that omissions or crude allowances cannot always be tolerated as that can be the difference between winning a bid and not.

We offer simplified surge studies (called ‘Reviews’) that can help with this problem by providing far better estimates but at an acceptable cost.

Just knowing the maximum surge pressure and approximate details of any required surge suppression can significantly tighten the bid and remove a proportion of the risk once the project enters detailed design.

Sometimes even more important is the level of technical input that we can contribute to the tendering process by our studies. This may be by ways of reducing the carbon footprint or by suggesting improved control systems that ensure stable and effective operation.
